Some of the scenery on the road between Chile and Bolivia

Crossing into Bolivia; our 11th country on the world tour.

So this is where the Partridge family left their bus

In front of the brilliant green Laguna Verde

Lisa with our new friends Jackie, Christie and Andrea; American college students studying in Santiago.

Boiling geothermal mud

MK peering into the thousand degree mud.

The warm steam from the mud spots was the only heat I got for four days

A flamingo over Laguna Colorado

The reddish-pink color of the lake comes from a micro-organism of the same color

The flamingoes feed off of the micro-organisms and turn pink too

Soup's on....

The first of 5 stops with engine trouble; this time we overheated but it got much worse.

Michael climbed on the rocks to feed a Beschocha, a small hare-like mammal.

LK using one of the many "natural" banos (bathrooms).

We saw literally thousands of flamingos during our 4 days in Bolivia

Taking a lick of a wall at The Salt Hotel, the site of our second night's lodging. Yes, it's really salt.

Everything at The Salt Hotel is made of salt; the tables, chairs, walls and floors. Everything.

The Fiesta del Sr. de Exaltacion was in full swing that night; the party had started the night before and was to continue until the following night.

We all partook in the traditional dancing and pink drinks. Before drinking we had to pour some on the ground for Pacha Mama (Mother Earth).

We were supposed to see the sunrise over the Salt Flats but we couldn't locate our drunken guide; we discovered he had enjoyed the party all evening.

All of us finally on the stunning Uyuni Salt Flat with aforementioned drunk guide. (Michael and Matt did the driving that day).

The Uyuni Salt Flat is the largest and highest in the world

We saw a random bicyclist on the desolate flat

After the water evaporated the salt outlined the small pools forming these perfet geometric shapes.

The salt flat seems unending....

Michael played with a few little kids when we stopped in a tiny salt town

We had a typical breakfast of bread, bread & bread at the border crossing before going back to Atacama
